This was the first book I read in the series. I expected to be better but I was very disappointed. The stories had very interesting plot and all but it wasn’t well developed. It felt like a bunch of thoughts jumbled together into a book.
It was rushed and the characters weren’t developed. And I didn’t understand how the characters ended up loving each other because there were barely anytime for them to ! The book had good plot but if the author took the time to really develop it then it would’ve been good.

Like I’ve said before, as much as I hate to admit it I can’t keep my hands off of anything with just one simple word, Vampire. So when I found the Night World Volumes 1, 2 and 3 I became openly skeptical, a little unexcited(due to the surplus of unintelligent Young Adult Vampire novels as of oh so very recently, thanks Twilight!) but still couldn’t ignore the fact that I was without a doubt going to read them.
I only wish that I knew how quickly and ferociously I would DEVOUR them all; chapter by chapter like a raging beast of sorts, from the Night World itself! I literally could not put these down, I don’t think I dared to take a break during each individual story.
I actually read this volume, which is the second one, first and think because of that I ended up falling in love with this one more then the other two. Maybe it’s just that they happened to put the three I’d like the best in the same one, or maybe it was just the fact that I happened to enjoy them more because they fit so well together. . . but whatever the reason this one holds the top spot for the Night World in my mind.
‘Dark Angel’ is a little too much for me, as far as it’s sense of reality, or maybe I just didn’t find it all that cute and romantic. Gillian didn’t convict as much interest as most of the other antagonists we encounter in this series.
In ‘The Chosen’ we meet Rashel the Cat, a talented and revered vampire hunter whose world gets turned upside down when she discovers her soulmate Quinn, who is a strong and powerful vampire. (Very Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel, but I’m not complaining. )
However ‘Soulmate’ is by far my favorite, about the reincarnated Hannah who is confused by visions of Thierry, which only becomes more tumultuous when he shows up claiming to be her soulmate who continues to be separated from her countless times through the ages by the envious Maya.
These books may not be Shakespeare, they might not change your life view or enlighten you on worldly subjects you’ve never heard of. . but they certainly are one thing, highly entertaining.

3I can usually zip through these books, because I’m an avid reader. However, this one, I couldn’t get through. The stories could not hold my attention, which was disappointing to me since I loved the first Night World No. 1 book. I do enjy Smith’s style of writing though, hence the stars. Otherwise, I can’t say too many fab things about this book, and that makes me sad. Sorry.

I loved this book. I have read the first one and can’t wait for the 3rd installment with the last 3 books. I only wish it was longer and gave us more info. I did find some continuation of a few of the stories on the authors website. I love supernatural books, and LJ Smith has been one of my favorites, second only to Stephenie Meyer.
