  1. I got sucked in by the Twilight like cover, but that’s where the similarities end. I hated all of the characters in it except Tristan, and he gets a crappy ending in addition to being killed. I wouldn’t recommend.

  2. The book “Kissed by an angel” is a triology of books (Kissed by an angel, The power of Love, Soulmates) that was first published in 1995. These books are designed to appeal to female teenagers. All of the books involve the main character of Ivy, and her obsession and beleif in angels. Her boyfriend Tristan dies, and becomes her guardian angel, and a tale of mystery then befolds in this trilogy.

The books, particularly the last one “Soulmates,” are all highly predictable, which is not a trademark of memorable mysteries. The characters seem one dimentional, and I did not feel that I knew any of the characters inner thoughts, despite the fact that the author attempted to write about them. The characters were also not likeable. The writing style was easy to read, however, the subject matter was boring. Also, the references to the 1990s (VCRs, anyone?) made this book seem dated.

I am giving this book three stars, because I can see a pre-teen or teenage girl enjoying this series. Someone who hasn’t read a lot of books yet would find this interesting. However, some adolescent series of books (think Harry Potter, Twilight)transcend generations, and adults can enjoy them as well. Sadly, the “Kissed by an angel” trilogy is not one of them.

  3. I totally agree with the review “Hmmmm” This book is just filler while waiting for something better to come along. No wonder I never heard about it when it first came out. The middle school crowd might like it better than high schoolers. No where near as good as Twilight et al. Fast reading when you don’t have anything else.

  4. The story of a recently-dead-teenager-now-turned-angel trying to protect his still-alive girlfriend is fairly simple. This compilation of three novels (first released in 1995), with its black binding and rose on the cover, is buying into the recent paranormal young adult craze. However, these books are not nearly as well-written as more recent novels, including the Twilight books. The Twilight books, like most books, could be written better, but these novels could be exponentially more interesting with the addition of good editing and a more complex storyline. That said, the characters are quaint, and the concept of faith portrayed in a favorable light (sometimes unusual in paranormal stories) makes the novels, Kissed by an Angel, The Power of Love, and Soulmates just interesting enough to finish reading.

  5. Be warned – this is 3 books in one –
This beautifully written book reminded me a bit of Ed Patterson’s Bobby’s Trace, only this is a romance of a young man who has crossed over trying to protect his lady who is in danger.
It is scary, and romantic and everything a book about the power of SoulMates should be – I would reread this and recommend others to read.
